Rudder is one of the most important parts of marine vehicles. In order for the steering and transmission systems to operate smoothly, regular maintenance and repairs must be made. If we give information about maintenance of steering and transmission systems. Namely;

• Before the wintering, all rudder and transmission systems must be checked and maintained.
• Steering shafts, fans and pins should be checked for mussels, algae and cocoa. If any, these must be changed.
• The gearbox needs to be drained and the moisture content in the oil should be checked. If there is a problem with the humidity, it should be checked and precaution should be taken.
• Punctures and cracks in the rubber parts should be checked.
