Queen Anne's Revenge
The Queen Anne's Revenge ship (originally named Queen Anne's Revenge) was captured by the French pirate La Concorde during Queen Anne's War (1702-1713). The famous ship was used for years as a slave ship outside of Nantes before being captured by Anglo-American pirates.
Under the command of Edward Thatch, also known as the Blackbeard, the pirates used the impressive three-masted ship as their flagship for seven months before it collapsed in today's Beaufort Inlet in June 1718.
Historical documents by no means tell the whole story of the famous ship. For example, the origins of La Concorde cannot be found despite extensive research. Also, there are no details about the provisions, cargo, or ammunition carried by ship.
Nor were many details reported surrounding the circumstances surrounding the disappearance or subsequent rescue of Queen Anne's Revenge. However, information gathered from surviving eyewitness testimonies and recent reports provides a general picture of what happened when the ship disappeared.
Voyages aboard Queen Anne's Revenge
Before becoming Blackbeard's flagship, one of the most famous historical ships was a French slave ship named La Concorde. By studying various primary and secondary French documents, the researchers were able to piece together the limited history of La Concorde.
When the symbols on the map were examined, information about the historical ship's known voyages before La Concorde was captured by Blackbeard came to light. The map in this information is based on Allison Suggs, Karen Browning, and Dr. It brought the information originally researched and produced by Jacques Ducoin to light. The colors on the map symbolize the historical change of the ship with a color.
Green represents a private journey that began in 1710, while Black represents La Concorde's first journey to slavery. Yellow represents the second slave journey, while red represents the third and final slave journey.
End of the Historic Queen Anne's Revenge Ship
Researchers investigating the wreck at Beaufort Inlet have done a major study by archaeologists and historians to determine that the wreck is the remains of Blackbeard's flagship. Historical details gathered from maps and contemporary 18th-century documents indicate that the ship is Blackbeard's famous ship.
Besides, the artifacts unearthed from the wreck site also support that the remains found belong to the Queen Anne's Revenge ship. Also, the location of the shipwreck found and the route of Queen Anne's Revenge overlap.
